About my art
I am fascinated by the interwoven and the tangled: in my paintings, form, color and motif should detach themselves from the familiar perspective in order to be reassembled beyond formal boundaries in new visual spaces. Painting on wood has become a focus of my work: color and wood influence each other, with the grain and structure of the wood serving as a starting point on which the familiar can be laid down to be redesigned. Separate elements are altered and dissolved through movement, superimposition, and coloring, only to be linked together again in the overall composition. I am always looking for new aspects in the familiar, wanting to look behind it, but also to draw attention to existing connections and interactions.
In my art, I aim to highlight selected situations and moments with color and form, but also to critically examine them to a certain extent and draw attention to certain circumstances. The central idea is always that everything is interconnected, interrelated, and influences each other, as well as being subject to constant change. At this point we have reached a step in our global development where people have an enormous influence not only on their immediate surroundings, but also on the world as a whole. I therefore find the idea that we must see ourselves as a small part of a complex system to be fundamental and more relevant than ever. No aspect of our lives, no element of this world should be viewed in isolation; everything is interconnected and in constant flow. We cannot really afford to ignore these connections - as climate change and all its effects are currently making particularly clear to us.
My works are created in mixed media techniques on wood, canvas and paper. In addition to traditional painting, I also include manual printing techniques and collage elements into my paintings. I further use digital image processing for some of my works, for example in the designs for my illuminated billboards, which were part of past exhibitions. Besides I have created several three-dimensional works in the field of object-art. My works on wood are due to the individual surface of each wooden panel unique and cannot be reproduced in the way they are.
About me: I have been drawing since my youth, and later added watercolor and acrylic painting to my repertoire. For a time I also liked photography, taking my camera with me, wherever I went. Through my training and professional work in the technical and graphic fields, I was able to create a professional basis for my creative work, as well as expand and deepen my skills. Many experiences and interests now flow into my current artistic work. Parallel to my art, I work freelance in graphic design, creating layouts, graphics, and advertising designs for print. Currently, I am mainly active in the gaming industry.
